Grandma Treesaw has long been making Teslin Tlingit style bannock for her friends and family all across the Yukon.

Everyone who tried it was instantly hooked and has asked her to teach them so they can make their own at home.

Teresa is passionate about sharing her culture with everyone through bannock and sees it as a way to celebrate her First Nations culture, family and traditions through food. Now, you can enjoy a true taste of the Yukon with Grandma Treesaw’s Yukon Bannock Mix.

Grandma Treesaw sees her bannock as a way to share, with the rest of the world, a piece of her cultural food. Everyone who has ever tasted fresh, hot bannock, wants to make their own. And now with the ready mixed bags, everyone can have a true taste of the Yukon!

What is Bannock?

A true taste of the Yukon, bannock (also known as fry bread) is a quick bread made of flour that can be baked or fried. This Yukon First Nations Cultural food is crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and oh so yummy, which can pair well with any meal.

How to prepare Bannock

Pour contents into a bowl

Add 1 ¾ to 2 ⅓ cups of water

Stir

Add oil to a medium skillet until it is half full

Heat oil to 375F or med-high heat for 5 to 10 minutes

Add batter a tablespoon at a time

Cook until Golden Brown (approximately 4-5 minutes)

Add 1 ½ tablespoons of lard

Work lard into mixture like pie dough (optional to add a handful of shredded cheese or raisins)
